UNSC set for ‘informal meeting’ to discuss draft of resolution calling for N. Korea …

the UN Security Council is reportedly
due to hold an informal meeting to discuss a draft resolution on easing
sanctions on North Korea according to Reuters this meeting comes just a day
ahead of the year-end deadline that the North has set for more flexible nuclear
talks of the u.s. it’s also the second working-level meeting since China and
Russia submitted the resolution a couple of weeks ago the resolution includes
lifting sanctions on marine products and repatriation of North Korean workers in
foreign countries however it is unlikely to be accepted as the US which can
exercise its veto and the EU are deeply opposed to the resolution in order for
the resolution to be adopted 9 out of 15 permanent and non-permanent members have
to approve it
