Plattsburgh City Council proposes 2 percent tax hike, $650,000 in budget cuts for 2019

PREPARING FOR ANOTHER YEAR OF

TODAY CONNECTED TO NEXT YEAR AND
THE YEAR AFTER. LIZ: TO HELP PREPARE FOR THE
FUTURE, THE MAYOR PAST THE
COUNCIL — TASKED THE COUNCIL
WITH PREPARING A FIVE-YEAR
BUDGET. THIS ALL COMES AFTER YEARS OF
SPENDING LEAVING THE CITY WITH A
MULTIMILLION DOLLAR DEFICIT. COUNCILOR MIKE KELLY SAYS IF THE
CITY PLAYS ITS CARDS RIGHT,
IT’LL HAVE JUST OVER $2 MILLION
— $1 MILLION IN ITS GENERAL
FUND IN 2019 COMPARED T JUST
$200,000 IN 2017. TO GET THE ADDITIONAL MONEY IN
THE FUND KELLY PROPOSES CUTTING
