(HE) EYEWITNESS NEWS REPORTER CAROLINE GOGGIN SPOKE TO PENDLETON’S SON THIS AFTERNOON — AND JOINS US LIVE IN STUDIO. MIKE PENDLETON SAYS HIS MOM WAS A LOVING PERSON. STRONG, CARING, AND DEDICATED TO HER FAMILY AND FRIENDS. HE SAYS THE SEARCH FOR HIS MOM MAY BE OVER… AND IT ENDED IN WHAT HE CALLS THE WORST WAY POSSIBLE. BUT HE SAYS HER MEMORY WILL STILL LIVE ON. MIKE PENDLETON FIGHTS BACK TEARS MONDAY… HOURS AFTER THE SEARCH FOR HIS MOM, PATTI, COMES TO A TRAGIC END. “my mom meant a lot to me. But I got her, I brought her home.” PENDLETON WAS A COUPLE MILES IN THE WOODS SUNDAY WHEN HE HEARD THE RADIO MESSAGES ABOUT HIS MOM. HE DROPPED EVERYTHING HE HAD… RUSHING BACK TO THE BASE CAMP. “Figuring if that little four pound dog was still alive, my mom was still alive.” HE CALLS THE PAST 24 HOURS CRUSHING. FOR HIM, FOR HIS FAMILY… FOR HIS 16 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER WHO CALLED HER GRANDMOTHER, HER BEST FRIEND. “My daugther was active in 4H, my mom was a 4H advisor. So, they did a lot together.” A FOCUS ON FAMILY… SOMETHING THE SINGLE MOM BELIEVED IN. “to teach me how to be a man. And the way I carry myself is a testimony to my mom, and the kind of person she was.” THE 38-YEAR-OLD SAYS HE CHERISHES THE CONVERSATIONS HE AND HIS MOM SHARED. HE WISHES THE TWO COULD HAVE HAD JUST ONE MORE… BUT TAKES COMFORT IN KNOW SHE LIVED OUT HER LAST MOMENTS… IN A PLACE WHERE SHE TRULY BELONGED. “she died in the place she loved, doing something she loved, with the animals that she loved, and she was happy.
