pardpardeftab720sa280qlqnatural f0fs28 cf0 Living in Lake Placid there’s
a lot of rich history dating back to the early 1800s when families would come out of New
York City to get out of the heat.’a0 They come up to the Adirondacks and they would
stay for the whole summer to enjoy the weather and just beautiful sunsets every night and
it was very common to build what they would call Summer camps. And Summer camps are really
a name for just a Summer home. There were many famous families that came up and that
became a big part of history here. The Adirondacks are so unique. It’s such a short distance
from some of the major cities whether its New York City or Montr’e9al wherever you
look it’s beautiful here. There are 6 million acres in the Adirondack Park and is actually
the largest park in the United States. Major Parks, we all know, Yosemite, Yellowstone
three or four of those parks would fit inside of our Adirondack Park.’a0
We have had two Olympics here in 1932 and 1980 have a bobsled and Luge track that was
redone. We have an outdoor Olympic oval for speed-skating two indoor arenas with three
different Olympic size rinks every July. For the last 14 years we’ve had a triathlon Ironman
event here which attracts thousands. We also have one of the world very premiere 2 week
horse shows and we have beautiful horse show grounds here. Whiteface mountain, which was
the site 1980 Olympics Ski Center, is very unique because we had a road that was built
that you can drive from the base right up to the top where there’s a structure we call
the whiteface castle. From there you can either hike up to the total summit or take an elevator.’a0The
road up is called Veterans Memorial Highway. and it’s quite a winding road and it just
is amazing how you climb up to over 4,000 feet you can see all of Lake Placid Lake you
can turn around in the opposite direction you can see up to Montr’e9al. Lake Placid
is completely charming. We still have Main Street, America. It’s a wonderful place to
live and bring up your children. We have beautiful little shops and boutiques. I think it’s almost
shocking that you can leave a city where people don’t really speak or know their neighbors
and you come to this little pocket, it’s almost like a little jewel. It’s very zen and it’s
very back to nature thinking about things that aren’t stressful and they remember what
really matters and what really counts.’a0}

  1. Margie, great piece.  May I have the honor or reusing?  The piece makes one want to pack up the car and come!  Cheers  Darleen March, Broker, ACHR
