How To: Single-Leg Calf Raise

What’s going on nation? I’m going to show you guys how to do a single leg calf raise now some of you may be able do this exercise without holding on to anything So what you can do is with one foot behind the other go straight up all the way down just like this Really focus on pushing all the way forward through your toes and work that calf and make sure you do both sides equally you want to ten reps 15 reps 20 reps Calves respond to high repetitions, so if you already have an existing leg routine you want to corporate these in there That’s great, if you want to do them by themself That’s great, too to help work on those calves But make sure you do equally on both sides now if you can’t do it without By not holding on to anything find a stable surface Again put one leg behind the other or hold it in the air and push straight up Breathe out on the way up. Make sure you do both sides To make it a little harder go to an elevated surface And push straight up Typically I like doing 15 to 20 reps whenever I do anything with my calves Especially when I’m doing them using my own bodyweight So give it a shot try it out comment in the comment section below Feel free to subscribe for more great information and as always more good stuff coming soon

    Went to my uni's gym for the first time in a month…
    thought "hey this machine looks strange what does it do"
    so I jumped onto it,
    Kept thinking "wow this is easier then it looks"
    so more + more weight kept being added…
    Felt disappointed+cocky during the workout as i felt nothing.

    2 days later (now today) my calves have been screaming ever since…I find myself walking on my toes constantly xD
    Streching help relieve the pain I presume?

  3. I do these on an elevated surface and holding a 25 pound plate and usually get to 40 reps. I don't know if that means I should use more weight, or just do fewer reps but more sets?

  4. your body is the one i'm targeting right now. perfect! lean but not the big bodybuilder type. i'm now considered on the "average" group (muscular but still with few fat from the abs to shed off).

  6. @franzzsh it depends on your gains, with both feet you will be doing higher repetitions (increasing muscular endurance) however with just one leg you will be doing fewer repetitons (increasing muscular size gain)

  7. whats the take on calves? can you bulk them up like you would with a bench press by just performing 5 reps? or do they require higher repetitions for growth? just asking b/c my calves arent my strongest characteristic.

  10. Hey thanks for this video. Very helpful. My right calf is stronger then my left calf because i play drums and I am always kicking down with the right calf. Would you recommend me doing these individual calf exercises more for my left leg than my right when I go to the gym, or will my calves become even in time eventually?

  11. what's the difference between single and double? as in more or less pressure on calves? because I normally just do double, and about 90 in a row, good or bad?

    How about doing it without shoes for better range of motion, and using a weighted vest, or a dumbbell?
